Our Charity Dynamics retained strategic services clients receive weekly status updates that allow us to plan and track initiatives that help our clients reach their digital communication and fundraising goals.

Each week, we share the most innovative ideas we see in the industry and look for ways to keep our clients on the cutting edge. Here are three of our favorite ideas from the last month:

1) Start a Trend: Email Marketing for Bequests

Did you know bequests account for as much as one third of fundraising revenues in the U.K. and Australia but only 8% of fundraising revenues in the U.S.? Few nonprofits are utilizing the cost effective method of email to promote bequests, even though a prime target for bequests, Baby Boomers, are highly digitally connected. A recent survey showed that the number one reason Boomers arranged for a bequest to an organization was that they received “a communication from a charity.”

2) Google Just Made It Possible to Get Very Close to People

You can now upload your email addresses (1,000 minimum) into AdWords, and then Google will allow you to specifically target the ones that match. Imagine the possibilities?

  • Specifically target your file of non-donors
  • Create an upgrade path for existing donors
  • Better message lapsed donors

 3) DIY Fundraising at the right time

City of Hope has done a fantastic job of capturing commitment fearful fundraisers by having an option to pledge at a later date. On their DIY site, they have a small prompt for “Pledge Hope” that states, “Not ready to create your ourHope page yet? pledgeHope to learn more and create your fundraiser when the time is right for you.” What an excellent idea to help make your audience feel they are in the driver’s seat to fundraise.
