Our Charity Dynamics retained strategic services clients receive weekly status updates that allow us to plan and track initiatives that help our clients reach their digital communication and fundraising goals. Each week, we share the most innovative ideas we see in the industry and look for ways to keep our clients on the cutting edge. Here are three of our favorite ideas from the last month:

Tab for a Cause

This might be the only time having 1,000 tabs open makes both sense and cents. Tab for a Cause is a browser extension that raises money for incredible nonprofits every time you open a new tab. The tool allows you to customize the tab landing page you see before you head anywhere on the web with beautiful imagery, interactive widgets and bookmarks. The catch: ads also load in the corner of this new tab page and that’s where Tab for a Cause’s sponsors come in to provide money for charity.

Ad-Targeting Via Pinterest

Similar to Facebook and Twitter, Pinterest has started offering an ad-targeting game with a program focused on small-mid sized businesses first. This may be the opportunity nonprofits have been looking for to capitalize on this widely used social media platform.

Here are some highlights of the program:

  • Pinterest is rolling out its self-service ad platform Pinterest Ads Manager to all U.S. small- and medium-sized businesses.
  • Pinterest is adding new targeting capabilities to the platform, including increasing the number of keywords and interests advertisers can use to promote their products and services from 30 to 420.
  • Pinterest is also adding marketers’ first-party email subscriber data as a targeting option, but only via ad tech firms that are part of its Marketing Developer Partners program, according to Marketing Land. Brands with at least 100 addresses in their email database can upload them to Pinterest as a targeting option.

Donations and Event Participant Search Unite

The user experience for peer-to-peer event giving usually requires the donor to pass through several participant or team search screens before getting to the donation form. Steps to make getting to the donation form easier can lead to donors forgetting to associate the gift to a participant. It shouldn’t be this hard.

Check out this example from the American Cancer Society which brings the event search and donation form onto a single page in a seamless user experience. The form uses the Luminate API to bring the most important functionality into one place, making donating easier.
